Lion Whisperer: Kevin Richardson

by Jesse Petersen on June 26, 2007

Kevin Richardson - Lion WhispererSome people are insane. Some people know what they are doing. This guy brings back memories of Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. He can even hold a baby hyena without fear of attack from its mother, likely because his brain is not sending him signals correctly. Sometimes God’s elbow gets bumped when pouring in peoples’ brains.

According to this amazing news story, Kevin Richardson is 32 and has been doing this for years. I suspect that this kind of behavior usually ends in tragedy, like the bear lover Timothy Treadwell.

Check out the full story at Daily Mail.

UPDATE: Since writing this post, I have learned that he is also the producer of the film White Lion – Home… is a Journey. It is a story about Letsatsi, a white lion, and his struggle to adulthood against all odds.

LISTEN UP! I’m tired of people asking me how to get in contact with Kevin. He’s a nutcase. I am NOT his PR rep. I am NOT his agent. I do NOT know him. I do NOT know where he is. I do NOT know what he ate for breakfast. Read the article, Google about him some more, enjoy your tea, and move on.

E-mails like this will be ignored from now on: “We are headed to South Africa to shoot an episode and wanted to connect with Kevin and possibly include him in a segment ….Do you know how to get a hold of him?”

Have ANY of you heard or watched the story about Christian the Lion? It happened 40 years ago but it is the most heartwarming animal story I have EVER read or watched. I recently bought the DVD and the book about this magnificent, loving lion. I first saw him on video pieces of YouTube. You can also get more from Animal Planet, just type in “Christian the lion” on the site search bar. I have cried a bucket of happy and sad tears. I am absolutely hooked on Christian and can’t get enough viewing of him. Although I have been fascinated by BIG cats, Christian has COMPLETELY won my heart. Once any of you watch the TRUE story, I think you too will fall in love with Christian, his personality, his love of people and his OVERALL life. In my opinion, it is a better story than Elsa the lion of Born Free. You will be amazed. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DVD, THE AP VIDEOS AND THE BOOK. It’s cherished forever.

Christian the lion is a very lucky lion indeed. Amazing what they did for him and what he became. I absolutely applaude the two gentlemen for doing that and in the end recieving unconditional love. I also love what Kevin Richardson is doing in South Africa with the lions. My heart goes out to people who care for these magnificent animals.

But it is not all pleasant and dandy out there and many animals are still being killed as prize trophys or still being raised for Canned Hunts in Africa. Here is a guy who is not only proud of what he does but even critisizes the government where he is and talks bad about the citizens. Here is the link :

What can one really say about those people picyured with dead lions, with smiles on their faces.

THAT IS JUST PLAIN SICK !!!

Admirer:
Thank you for your response to my posting. I agree. I have looked at YouTube video and still pictures of Kevin Richardson quite often lately. I envy his abilities and how fortunate he is to be able to mingle with the big cats. The photographs and videos are just amazing to look at. He too is remarkable. Yes, he is proud of what he does and he should be. Africa is a tough place. There are people there, as we know, who kill these magnificent animals on a daily basis. Personally, I would like to see the killings stopped. Maybe some day soon, they will be. Let’s hope so for the sake of the animals.
