My New Favorite Comic: Pearls Before Swine

I am a long-standing fan of [tag]Scott Adams[/tag]‘ [tag]Dilbert[/tag] and [tag]Gary Larson[/tag]’s [tag]The Far Side[/tag], but after reading [tag]Pearls Before Swine[/tag] by [tag]Stephan Pastis[/tag] for nearly two years, I find myself anticipating each day’s comic more and more.

I really identify with Rat, the egotistical, sadistic character who is bent on making others miserable. I don’t know why, but that’s part of what makes me who I am. Then there are the days I feel like Pig, the down-trodden, non-productive toon. The poor guy is the star of my favorite stips that litter my walls in my cube.

With that said, I am starting my first meme. I want to know what your favorite comic is. Make it good, folks. Don’t worry if it is the same as others’ so long as you say why.

I tag Terry Starbucker, Steve Farber, Phil Gerbyshak, Easton Ellsworth, and Troy Worman. Just link back here and tell everyone why you’re going crazy with a comic post and tag your best friends.

OK Jesse, I’ll give this a shot, but this is going to really, really date me. Be kind…… :-)
    All the best.

There’s nothing wrong with Family Circus or Blondie, if that’s what you’re concerned about. :)

I look forward to seeing your pick.

Awesome! Thanks for the tag, Jesse. This my take some thinkery, so bear with me.

That’s a tough question. “Pearls” is good, but I think “Pickles” gets my vote. I guess Earl just makes me feel better about myself. ;-)

    Troy,

Great pick, man. I didn’t read it much growing up, but my parents did have a Doonsbury book that I read after high school. It’s pretty darn good, but I didn’t have the character background that most fans have.

    Thanks for participating.

    Dad,

It’s easy to feel good after looking at Earl.

    Rosa,

Thanks for joining in! I have seen some of your memes and participated way down the chain on others. Welcome.

You can’t go wrong with Calvin and Hobbes.

I have always loved Frank and Ernest. They cover every time period from ancient history to the future, and every type of character from math professor to cave man, and they always make me laugh.

If you’ve never read Frank and Ernest, check out their website: http://frankandernest.com/

Link seems to be broken Jesse…

Apparently the link is only good for 90 days. I’ll have to find it again and save the comic to my server.

    Thanks, DM.

Favorite comic? So hard to choose!

Ho’okipa Traffic Stop for a moment … We’re in Meme City tonight, at the corner of B.C. by Johnny Hart and Opus, and I can’t decide which turn to take! We decided to take this evening’s joy ride to keep up with Jesse at Perfectly Petersen, whose launched his first meme, My Favorite Comic. Saw Troy jump in his car, and we decided to tail him!

Come over to see our pick.
