Why I Will Soil Myself if Obama Is Elected

I know promises are promises with elected officials, seeing as how this Congress hasn’t done a darn thing they promised during their campaigns, but…

Head for the hills if this man is sworn in! He is a dreamer and will get us all killed if his policies go through. The gutting of the military during the Clinton years will pale in comparison. We’ll be begging for Jimmy Carter to talk to Obama to get him to allow us to at least have pea shooters.

Never Happier About Being Wrong: David Cook Wins

May 21st, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in American Idol

A clear winner by 12 million votes, David Cook got a public apology from Simon Cowell for being a bit unfair and on the verge of being disrespectful last night.

Simon said that when he got home and watched it again, it was not as clear cut as the judges [Simon!] made it out to be.

America saw through that hype and atmosphere of excitement over the phenom and voted for the best all-around singer and artist left.

Congratulations, David Cook!

American Idol Finale Results Show: Moments Away!

May 21st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in American Idol

The time the dearly devoted have been waiting for all season is here!

My prediction that David Archuleta will win remains, but I sit here today and publicly write that David Cook will blow Archie’s concert, CD, and iTunes sales away. There is no comparison when it comes to charisma, presence, and character. No, I don’t think D.A.’s stage humility is any indication of who he is other than a pimped daddy’s prodigy out there for the world to see how good Jeff Archuleta’s genes mixed with his wife’s.

Can you imagine (no pun intended, but it’s dang funny now that I typed it) shelling out $60 to see Archuleta and seeing and hearing this after every number:

Gosh!
No, no, no, shucks, gosh!

I’d be demanding my money back. He should pay people to listen to him when he does that. I loved him at first, but his novelty has worn thin.

It’s come out that David Cook didn’t even want to try out for the show and was there for his brother.

The true American Idol is David Cook.

American Idol Finale - Cook vs. Archuleta - 5/20/2008

May 20th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in American Idol

Tonight was the big night, so one moment while I finish casting my votes. Ok, now that business is taken care of, it’s time to tell you who I voted for.

Tonight was a knock-down, drag-out fight… until the end. The end, if you watched it, consisted of David Archuleta singing, not for the first time… not for the second time… but for the THIRD time this season and the FOURTH time readily viewable on YouTube: ‘Imagine.’ We know he can sing ‘Imagine’ already! I have it on my iPod and I’ve been listening to it for 2 months now. I’m ready for something else.

Worse song choice for the night or not, at least Cook sang something original AND smoking hot, too. Don’t count him out, but I don’t think he’s going to get the votes. I think he is the better all-around American Idol, but I have a nasty feeling that the young lad is going to edge him out based on vocals.

One question remains to be seen in the months and years to come: Does David Archuleta even enjoy singing, or is it just what his dad wants him to do?

Updated Photos of the Townhome Are Pending

May 20th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Townhome

Sorry, folks, but it was a heck’u'va day yesterday at the office and it just didn’t register high enough to get done. There are a lot of photos, which take a bit longer than just typing. In the end, though, 15 pics is like 15,000 words, right?

I hope to get them up tonight after class, if not before.

So Far Beyond Pissed About Windows

May 17th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Life in General

Well, it appears that the problem with the driver install was the ntldr file disappearing and the hal.dll getting corrupted. To make matters worse, instead of allowing me to copy the hal.dll file from the service pack folder in my current installation, it still thinks it’s corrupted.

I got a second installation put up on a slave drive and kept monkeying with the boot.ini and going into recovery console. Nothing in recovery console was working: fixboot, fixmbr, expand hal.dl_, NOTHING!

I went to do an in-place repair of my installation, and setup only sees my installation on the slave drive, despite the recovery console asking me which friggin’ Windows I want to log into as Administrator. Go jump off a cliff Microsoft. If my laptop (broken bezel and all) wasn’t the best operating system I have going now, I’d have thrown it against the wall in a fit of rage by now. I can’t even get my 1 month-old eLive Linux CD to load up all the way on the desktop. I think my video card is too new. Not even the old drivers were working, so you can forget about getting me to go to Linux on my desktop for now. My stuff is too good for that.

I’m about done with my rant because my new installation on my SATA drive is almost done. Then it’s time for the long patch and re-installation process to begin: Office 2007 Ultimate, Adobe Suite, World of Warcraft, Ashampoo, iTunes, Firefox 3, ServicePack 3, etc., etc., etc.

So much for beginning my online empire today. /sigh.

#$%#$% NTLDR Is Missing!

May 16th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in Life in General, Mac

That’s the last straw! I’m getting a Mac. I’ve been working with and on IBM PCs for over 15 years now. There just comes a time and place where one gets sick of fixing their own darn computer, and I’m there!

It was supposed to be a relaxing 30 minutes of gaming before going to bed. Key words: supposed to be. Tuesday night, my favorite game, World of Warcraft, issued a patch that everyone got with their next login, and they are notorious for breaking the plug-ins and addons that we as dorks like to use. That seemed like the case Tuesday. I couldn’t summon my horse to ride around without the game crashing. When I logged back in, I was on my horse. Rinse and repeat.

I should take the time to interject here that I had to install XP SP3 RC2 in order to get the game to run AT ALL after their major patch 2 months ago. More »
