Jesse is in a word: a geek. I married my gorgeous wife in October 2006 and we enjoy the beach, mall shopping, and watching movies together. He returned to the University of South Florida and completed his Bachelor's Degree in Professional and Technical Writing in 2010.
Because I left my company September 1st, I was left paying $706/mo for COBRA – ALL of it.
After doing this for 5 months, we realized that I was actually making less money working from home for higher salary than I was at the office 25 miles away, so I guess that was fine since I chose to left.
What sucked was when the company, or essentially person, for whom I left a secure, gov’t contract job to work for decided to ditch me I had no choice but to begin working for myself the next day or look for a job, earn no money while doing so, and run our savings to nothing.
We have since changed to a HIPAA-guaranteed individual policy for $860 and are looking at the possibility of getting an HSA-eligible plan with no underwriting or pre-existing condition clause for tax benefits.
