The End of Steve Jobs?

Speculation is stirring about Steve Jobs’ dramatic weight loss that became apparent at the Apple developers’ conference in June. As a pancreatic cancer survivor, the hub-bub is going around like wildfire. If his cancer has come back in some form, it completely explains his new look.

If the rumors and concerns were not true, there is no reason for the Apple or Jobs to come out and squash the speculation. My take is that they are not able to do that because it would be a lie. If they came out and confirmed it, then the stock would plunge until a replacement is found, announced, and vetted.

What do you say? Speculation or most likely true?

Do you think Steve Jobs has cancer or he just lost weight?

Pickens Plan Revealed Today - T. Boone Pickens Video

July 8th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Current Events

T. Boone PickensThe increasingly famous T. Boone Pickens unvealed his new site: pickensplan.com this morning and released his plan in a nice, widescreen video.

Here is what his site says:

America is in a hole and it’s getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.

I’ve been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can’t drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil.

On January 20, 2009, a new President gets sworn in. If we’re organized, we can convince Congress to make major changes towards cleaner, cheaper and domestic energy resources.

To get this done, I need your help. Check out the plan. If you think it’s worth fighting for, please join our effort.

Roger Federer; If Only There Was No Net

July 6th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Current Events

We watched Wimbledon today. I was rooting for Nadal to finally beat him in at big tournament. It seemed like an awful lot of net shots from both of them, but I’d say that Federer would have won if it wasn’t for the net being there, and Nadal would have won faster if it had been on clay and could stop falling down.

All in all, I thought it was a great match and could not believe some of the volleys that were kept alive by incredible shots. They had a whole ESPN Top 10 plays in one match, including the President of NBC Sports picking his nose coming in at #1.

Why I Will Soil Myself if Obama Is Elected

May 22nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Common Sense, Current Events, Politics

I know promises are promises with elected officials, seeing as how this Congress hasn’t done a darn thing they promised during their campaigns, but…

Head for the hills if this man is sworn in! He is a dreamer and will get us all killed if his policies go through. The gutting of the military during the Clinton years will pale in comparison. We’ll be begging for Jimmy Carter to talk to Obama to get him to allow us to at least have pea shooters.

Reviewing The Best of Broadway: The Lion King

May 11th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Current Events

The Lion King Broadway BillCue one of the spine-tingling-est songs of all time, add a huge stage with the coolest man-made sunrise known, and then toss in the most innovative animal costumes ever made, and you have the most captivating opening to any Broadway musical out there. From the opening note, The Lion King delivered everything that the banners, billboards, and posters hyped it up to be.

It is opening weekend of The Lion King and they will be in Tampa until May 22. Our seats were fantastic: right on the isle of the center section in the 10th row. That placed us spot-on level with the stage so that we couldn’t see the stage surface, but we weren’t missing the performers’ ankles, either.

The show brings a new appreciation for the talent that the performers have to sing, dance, and act in all of the crazy costumes they had. The ensemble had about 25 costume changes by my estimate, and some of them were quite elaborate. It was not your typical Broadway musical where the ensemble remains relatively human and does a quick change. We are talking about changing from a hyena to a lioness to a piece of savannah grassland, complete with makeup changes. Truly, though, words cannot describe the coolness of Mufasa’s and Scar’s lion faces and the way they could drop down in front of their face to create a very effective lion appearance.

If you have seen the movie as many times as most, the lines are right from the movie, with the exception of some live audience flair, such as the stage curtain looking “like a shower curtain from Target,” as Zazu so comically pointed out. As long as children can sit through the animated movie, they will have no problem being enthralled with Broadway’s interpretation, and this is an excellent opportunity to expose them to the arts in an attractive and entertaining activity. The running time is about 2 1/2 hours with a 20-minute intermission.

Don’t let this gem leave town without experiencing the Best of Broadway!

College Student Builds Half-Scale Panzer Tank

April 10th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Current Events

Will Foster in tankWill Foster was a pretty “ordinary” college student at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. That is, until he built a tank.

Foster has completed a working 1/2 scale Panzer tank, complete with a functional air cannon powered by a scuba tank. He got in some slight trouble with the law when he took it out for a drive, but should only need a slow moving vehicle sign for it to be considered a tractor.

Remarkably, the whole thing came to him after playing paintball and figured on making the baddest paintball machine ever. It will only fire off about 50 rounds before the tank runs out of air, but I say you just start running over people after that.

Simpsons Are a Bad Example; Watch Baywatch Instead, Kids

April 9th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Common Sense, Current Events, Humor, Wacky Wednesday

And people think Bush looks like an idiot!According to FoxNews yesterday, Venezuela has deemed the 11am slot to have too much exposure to children to watch Simpsons and have been airing Baywatch Hawaii for the past couple of weeks. Apparently children are too impressionable to watch Simpsons.

So far, there haven’t been any complaints about Baywatch being on.

Can anyone say: the kids are in school and the 22 yr. old loser guys who are at home at 11am aren’t going to complain?
