Can anyone say: the kids are in school and the 22 yr. old loser guys who are at home at 11am aren’t going to complain?

What is stranger yet is that there is no evidence of what happened to the water.

Investigators say it was not dumped, pumped, drunk, or evaporated. The heist (if you can call it that) happened in a mere 4 hours between 1 am and 5 am without making enough noise to call attention to their activities.

A Jacksonville, FL news site is reporting that they are cancelling the contracts and accounts of over 1,000 annoying customers this month. That’s right: annoying customers.

I have to agree with their decision.

The News4Jax.com article states that the clients involved in the dump call 40-50 times per month making complaints and “unreasonable requests.” There is a line to how much time a company can spend on one person, especially if nothing productive ever happens during that time.

Several things happen with activity like this:

Customer service call wait times increase.

Customer service staff are more likely to burn out or non-service good clients.

Service prices will possibly rise.

The true wishes of the masses are overshadowed by the few.

If the customers and the provider are not happy with the situation, then I think it is right for the provider to discontinue their relationship with such problem-makers. It is obviously not something you do on the the drop of the hat because customers are the only source of income a service provider has, but some customers aren’t worth the trouble.

That’s my take on it, how do you feel about Sprint’s move?

If you see an old guy withdrawing cash from an ATM and then follow him to a convenience store in an attempt to take that money out of his front pocket, ask him how long they served in the Corp before you make your move.

Jesse Rae (man, I can’t believe he’s got my first name), 27, is facing a 15-year sentence if convicted for doing just such a thing. The problem is that he chose Marine veteran, Golden Glove boxer, and an ex-iron worker as his elderly target. Bill Barnes, 72, landed at least 6 solid punches on Jesse and created quite a mess of blood before a store employee saved Jesse’s life. Good for Bill.

The best line of the whole story is what he said about doing it again if it happened again, “I wouldn’t want my wife to give me hell for lettin’ that guy get my money.” He’s even got a tough wife. Good for Bill.

Times are a-changing. Few things date you like being asked by someone in school a homework question only to find out that your vast knowledge has been rendered obsolete.

My first experience with this problem occurred nearly two years ago when someone asked me what the 5 oceans ot the Earth are. I counted them out for her: “Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic… there are only 4 oceans. Is this multiple choice? There has to be something wrong here.” After pulling up Wikipedia, I discovered that there is now a Southern Ocean listed in the Oceans article. When I went to the Southern Ocean article, I learned that 28 nations from the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) decided for the world that they wanted to create a new ocean. When were they going to tell all of us who had already graduated?

The next major change came recently when the International Astronomical Union (IAU) re-defined the term “planet” and removed Pluto from the Solar System. At least I read the paper that day. Now we have 8 planets and 3 “dwarf planets.” How do the Roloffs feel about that term?

What is next? Making a mile 5,000 feet to “make it a round number” or something like that?

I’m a tad late on the Friday Funny, or we can call this one Wacky for my Wednesday post. Nothing funny crossed my desk until this from a dear friend:

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn’t run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, playing golf – always something more important to me.

Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush.

I said, “When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway.”

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Moral to this story: Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is the husband!

Welcome to my first “feature” article on Perfectly Petersen. This will be a weekly post about something wacky, be it news, facts, or whatever strikes my fancy as being wacky. For something to be wacky to me, it’s pretty extreme, as I’m quite wacky myself.

This week’s feature was found in the news and reported by the AP.

A man from Lake Luzerne, NY is in desperate need for a generous helping of brains. Someone must have bumped God’s elbow when he was pouring in Damion Mosher’s brains with an eye-dropper. He’s obviously a few drops short of a teaspoon.

At 18 years old, he clearly has entrepreneurial aspirations, but is seriously misguided in his thinking. He takes .223-caliber bullets and empties the contents to sell the brass casings. His method of emptying the rounds is flat-out stupid. He places a round in a vise and whacks the end off with a hammer.

The first 100 bullets went fine. The last one shot him in the abdomen. He’s in pain now, and a lot of it. He was treated and released, so that’s all good.

His casings came up to just a few pounds, and the local scrap business pays $1.70/lb for brass. Of all the things to do, why would you spend hours emptying bullets and making them worth $1.70/lb when they are probably worth $3.00/lb as bullets?

What other strange entrepreneurial ventures have you heard of lately?
